Limited Edition Zelda Themed 3DS XL is Coming To North America

Jack_3DSXL_Bundle

Earlier this month Nintendo of Europe announced that they would be releasing a limited edition Zelda themed 3DS XL to celebrate the release of the upcoming 3DS Zelda game. Unfortunately, there was no word on whether this system would be released here and North American gamers were once again left out. Thankfully this morning Nintendo has officially announced plans to release this Zelda Themed 3DS XL bundle in North America. This limited edition bundle will be avalaible Nov. 22 for $219.99, which includes the system and a download code for a copy of The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds game. I checked local retailers as soon as I heard this news and pre-orders weren’t open yet but I’m guessing you’ll probably be able to pre-order soon.

Check out images of this great looking system below and read the press release from Nintendo for more information.

ALL THAT GLITTERS IS GOLD FOR ZELDA FANS

New Gold-and-Black Nintendo 3DS XL Comes with The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds

REDMOND, Wash., Oct. 29, 2013 – The Legend of Zelda series has always been associated with the color gold. From the original gold-colored cartridge forΒ The Legend of ZeldaΒ on NES to the box art of the recently releasedΒ The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HDΒ forΒ Wii U, when fans think of “Zelda,” they think of gold. With the launch ofΒ The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between WorldsΒ on Nov. 22, the tradition of gold continues. On the same day, a newΒ Nintendo 3DSΒ XL bundle will launch that includes Nintendo 3DS XL hardware with gorgeous gold-and-black coloring and the iconic Triforce on the exterior, as well as a download code forΒ The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds. The legendary system is gold on one side and black on the other, beautifully representing the two parallel worlds Link travels between in the game. The special bundle was announced in a videoΒ starringΒ The Legend of ZeldaΒ franchise producer Eiji Aonuma, and will be available at a suggested retail price of $219.99.

“This beautifully designed Nintendo 3DS XL system continues a tradition that has delighted our fans for decades,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “It’s a special bundle for a very special video game.”

The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between WorldsΒ is set in the same world as fan-favoriteΒ The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the PastΒ for Super NES and takes place in the same Hyrule after many years have passed. In this new game, Link must journey between two worlds, Hyrule and Lorule, using a mysterious power that lets him become a drawing on walls. Link’s ability to merge with walls allows players to solve puzzles and explore dungeons in a new way. Players are also able to buy or rent various items throughout the game, allowing them to explore dungeons in any order they want, adding a new level of freedom to the game play.

Valve Announces the Steam Controller

SteamController

So today Valve finished off their Trilogy of announcements with the Steam Controller, a new Input device they have spent the last year working on.

They have designed it to be used with all current and future steam games, and in place of thumb stick they have added two, high resolution haptic trackpads, which are also click-able. This is definitely an interesting way of designing a controller, one in which Valve believes every game can be played on, even games like RTS games. They have essentially “tricked” the games into thinking you are playing with a mouse and keyboard and thus allows you to play any game on steam with this controller. They added a Diagram showing how this should work in Portal 2.

Steam controller_bindings

As you can see from the Diagram above, the middle area of the controller is also a touchscreen, which is also click-able, not unlike the PS4 controller.

Steam controller_schematic

Valve is also claiming that they have designed the controller to be “hackable” and are interested in how the community will utilize this controller. They plan to release tools out to the public to allow this to happen at an unspecified later date. Β This controller will be part of the same Beta as the Steam Machine, in allowing the public to voice opinions and help mold where it goes, from software, all the way to design.

No word on when these will ship out to beta testers. For more information on the Steam Controller, and to see about getting into the beta, you can go here;Β Steam.

First Microsoft Xbox One Ad revealed, featuring…….Football?

So here we have it folks, our very first North American TV ad for the Xbox One. It shows American Football, Skype, and Kinect, and no gameplay footage. In fact it doesn’t even mention that can even PLAY games. I worry about the kind of message that Microsoft is sending by airing these on TV. I Understand that Football is huge in the U.S.A, but as a gamer, this doesn’t make me want to buy an Xbox One, not even in the slightest. What do you guys think?
